Welcome to 6th grade music!
Music Class Prezi
January Update:
This month students have been working in stations that incorporate all aspects of music learning. They also have written their own melodies and performed one for the class on booms. We will soon be starting a large unit on American Popular music. The students are very excited to learn about what has lead to the popular music they enjoy now!
November:
What a fun month for 6th graders. We have been creating our own bands! Each class has slip into groups of 3-5 to make a band. They create an instrument out of everyday items and have written about how to play the instrument, and what it is made of. Check out some of the classes designs and hard work in the photos below!
October update:
During the month of October, 6th grade classes have been exploring the percussion instrument family. We took a deep look into recycled percussion instruments. With the help of another district, we were able to see and play a Steel Pan instrument in the classroom. Student's watched short videos and listened to many examples of recycled instruments. In addition, students explored the history behind steel pan Caribbean music and culture.
